Being a student is tough sometimes because you have to worry about whether you have enough for meals, textbooks, and parties. Finding somewhere to go on a date can sometimes be a headache because you want to save as much as you can but at the same time get good food and a pleasant ambiance.
Here are a couple of places close to campus that kind of give you that three-in-one deal. Enjoy!
Cheap Places To Go On Dates Near UBC
Sun Sushi – 4512 W 10th Ave
Sun Sushi is definitely a favourite amongst UBC students , and one can easily get there on the 99 B Line. It serves pretty good sushi around the Point Grey area and it’s cheap.
The Kitchen – 2620 Sasamat St
The Kitchen serves Korean food in a cozy, clean setting. While the menu there is pretty limited, everything on their menu (especially their soups!) is delicious . They don’t use any MSG in their food , so that’s a little bit of healthy eating for student life.
True Confections – 3701 W Broadway
True Confections is relatively close to campus and they only serve dessert. Their cakes are delicious and each slice is huge. While most of their cakes are priced between $7.50-$8.50, it still is a little expensive just for desserts, but it definitely is worth the money.
Benny’s Bagels – 2505 W Broadway
Benny’s Bagels serves great bagels in a comfy and cozy setting, and it feels extra homely on cold, rainy days. My personal favourite is their Salmon Lox Bagel Sandwich!
Great Dane Coffee – 6011 Walter Gage Road
Great Dane Coffee is on campus, conveniently located just behind Gage Towers. It’s a good place to head to if you guys are meeting in between classes, especially since it closes at 5pm. Bonus: their coffee is also Instagram-worthy.
The Boulevard – 5970 University Boulevard
The Boulevard is also on campus, and serves great coffee and sandwiches. If not on a date, it also makes a good place for studying.
Calhouns – 3035 W Broadway
Calhouns is a snug, homey café that serves delightful pastries, cakes and sandwiches and is right in the heart of Kitsilano. Most items on their menu are reasonably priced, and this café is open 24/7, which makes it perfect if you guys are night owls.
The Point Grill – 2205 Lower Mall, Building 4
If none of these seem appealing, or if you’re feeling lazy and you have a student meal plan (this place is a little more expensive), why not head to the Point Grill? It’s convenient if you both live on campus. (Image via The Point Grill)
