“Surrey central mall being closed down now by security and police due to an undisclosed security issue. Closing time supposed to be 6pm” reads his tweet.
He goes on to say that people were “relatively peaceful and calm” as they tried to figure out what’s happening.
Surrey RCMP did not explain to shoppers the reason for the evacuation and at 5:45 p.m., shoppers were allowed back into the mall.
At this moment, police will not be commenting on the incident any further.
Over in Richmond, another local shopping centre was the scene of a racist rant, which has caused quite the controversy on social media.
