While most spent the early hours of Canada Day in bed, others couldn’t wait to celebrate the nation’s birthday.
At around 2:30am on July 1, 700+ Canadians sporting red and white clothing along with headlamps began hiking up Mount Seymour in North Vancouver with one goal in mind: sing O’Canada at sunrise.
The mission was successful and the group shared the video on YouTube:
The event was organized by Chasing Sunrise, a Vancouver-based group well known for hosting hikes and sharing memorable sunsets.
The 700 in attendance is 400 more than last year, when the same group hiked Mount Seymour to sing the national anthem in 2015.
If you like carefully, you’ll also spot four-legged friends who must have also been feeling patriotic that morning.
