Police Pursuit
Witnesses say they saw first responders checking a vehicle that had been involved in an accident.
A few minutes later, officers in the Downtown Eastside spotted the same vehicle involved in the hit-and-run driving recklessly around the neighbourhood. The officers used lights and sirens to get the driver to pull over, but the suspect only sped up.
Officers chose not to pursue the driver because they didn’t want to jeopardize public safety.
Shortly after, officers found the van parked on East Hastings Street near Carall Street and arrested the teen.
