Dreaming of a Mexican holiday with a low price tag and phenomenal service in the sky?

As of July 24th, WestJet announced that they are adding a brand new, weekly service between Vancouver and Huatulco, Mexico this fall season.

This news comes as both a welcome surprise and relief to many who faced the soaring fares and complicated itineraries down to the popular Mexican hotspot.

One way tickets start as low as $289 CAD, with roundtrip tickets well under $600 CAD.

“This is fantastic news from our long-time partner WestJet. The addition of Huatulco as well as increasing their other pre-existing services means that WestJet now offers our passengers more services to Hawaii and Mexico than any other carrier at YVR!” said Craig Richmond, President and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. “We are pleased that we are able to offer further options for passengers looking to escape the winter to go to sun destinations or go home to visit loved ones in Canada over the holidays.”

Huatulco is a great alternative for people looking to travel south who have already experienced Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, or are simply looking to try vacationing in a less developed, jungle paradise.

Travellers can start to take advantage of this new route starting on October the 29th, when the airline plans to launch the new itinerary from YVR on the new 787-800 aircraft. It will seat 168 passengers and offer premium cabin seating for 12.

Until this time, travellers looking to fly from Vancouver to Huatulco faced flying on multi-stop itineraries with US carriers. These itineraries were often lengthy, or included a considerably high price tag.

WestJet is also increasing its service on routes including Fort McMurray, Edmonton, Fort St. John, Puerto Vallarta, and Cancun.

Along with over 36 nonstop itineraries, WestJet offers over 70 daily flights out of YVR which was voted the best airport in the world for the 8th year in a row.
