Minimum wage is increasing across Canada this fall, but not for all the provinces.

Minimum Wage Increase in Canada
On April 1, 2026, the federal government announced that it would increasing the federal minimum wage to $18.15 per hour, which applied to workers in industries that are regulated federally. Aside from that, provinces are able to individually set their own minimum wages, so things tend to differ across the country.
If you’re in B.C., then you’ll know that the Province increased its hourly minimum wage in June 2026 from $17.85 to $18.25, a jump of 40 cents. That means no further minimum wage bumps will be coming to B.C., as the Province announces its increases every June.
But for some other places, the increases come in the fall.
Provinces + Territories Getting Increases
- Ontario – Increase from $17.60/h to $17.95/h on October 1, 2026
- Nova Scotia – Increase from $16.75/h to $17/h on October 1, 2026
- Manitoba – Increase from $16/h to $16.40/h on October 1, 2026
- Saskatchewan – Increase from $15.35/h to $15.70/h on October 1, 2026
- Northwestern Territories – Increase from $16.95/h to $17.20/h on September 1, 2026
