The Victoria Police Department is reviewing the conduct of two officers who kneed a 16-year old girl and pushed her face to the ground during an arrest on Friday, February 27.
The teenager was reportedly trying to protect an abandoned dog on the street from being taken away by an animal control officer. During their exchange, the control officer reportedly threatened to also takeaway the teenager’s dog which led to the Victoria police being called to the scene.
In the video below, the police is seen speaking to the girl. When the animal control officer try’s to take the dog away, the teenager refuses to be separated and chaos breaks out. While the Victoria police try to control the young girl, she resists which leads to the officer kneeing her in the stomach – something completely uncalled for.
According to CBC, the teenager will likely be charged with resisting arrest and must remain in Victoria until her court appearance. She also plans to file a complaint with the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner.
