With the 2026 FIFA World Cup right around the corner, soccer fans are at the edge of their seats for more news. Since Canada is hosting its first-ever Men’s World Cup matches, it’s only natural that we’re hungry for information.

NEW TO TOWN
While the World Cup is getting the ball rolling in June, soccer fans have something to look forward to before the big games.
Coming to Vancouver in April 2026 is the FIFA Congress. Uniting representatives from 211 nations, this massive event will facilitate the discussion of FIFA-relevant topics. The FIFA Confess takes place a mere 11 days before the World Cup begins, so Vancouver will really be in the thick of everything soccer.

The event will be hosted in the Vancouver Convention Centre. Mayor Ken Sim posted on X that, “We’re expecting 1,600 delegates and $5M in local economic impact from this event alone. Can’t wait to welcome the world to Vancouver!”
TALKING POINTS
The FIFA Congress is a chance to talk all about FIFA. Things like picking the next host cities for the Women’s World Cup, as well as the upcoming Men’s World Cup, are on the docket to be discussed.
But more than that, the FIFA Congress celebrates soccer. There will be plenty of pop-ups and activities throughout the city while the Congress takes place.
This will be the 76th annual gathering of the event, and also the second time Canada has hosted it. The first was in Montreal, and now Vancouver has the honour of being the next.
