A persistent Vancouver driver has learnt the expensive way that it is best to ignore your electronic devices while driving.

On the evening of Wednesday, September 20th, a driver was caught by police near Granville and Broadway for fiddling with his cell phone while in traffic.

The first fine came with a hefty $368 CAD price tag for distracted driving, but the fines didn’t stop there.

After he was pulled over the first time, cops flagged the Hyundai Accent Avis rental car down a mere six blocks from where they first spoke to him. The two fines occurred a mire eight minutes apart.

Together the two fines add up to a staggering $736 double fine, in addition to not four, but rather eight demerit points.
