Stolen Model Ship at The Gull Bar and Kitchen

On Wednesday, North Vancouver restaurant The Gull Bar and Kitchen posted on social media about their model ship having been stolen. The boat, named the SS Gull, has been “in the family for decades.”

Reportedly, the theft occurred over the past Saturday. The restaurant says that as long as the boat is returned unharmed, “all will be forgiven.” But if it isn’t, the restaurant knows who did it. As they have video evidence of the incident, they will uphold it in the hopes of a safe return of the SS Gull.

Community Support

Many other businesses have echoed The Gull Bar and Kitchen’s situation in the post’s comments.

North Vancouver distillery Copperpenny Distilling Co. wrote, “I’m so sorry to read this team. It’s happened here too. I don’t know why people think that the care that goes into selecting decor and items for our small family businesses is available to steal. We don’t want to have generic spaces. I hope the public enjoys what we all do, not take it away. I hope for a safe return. Truly.”

Event organizer Nerd Nite North Vancouver also commented, “I’m so sorry. We’ve had a few things taken from events. It’s a shame that’s where we are now 😢 Hope it comes back safe!”

In spite of the unfortunate situation, the community has come to rally around the restaurant with support for SS Gull’s safe return. Hopefully, the ship will make it back to port, unharmed and without a scratch.
