Residents in some parts of British Columbia will soon be able to hail a taxi the environmentally-friendly way, as a new all-Tesla taxi company begins operations.

Starting this weekend, Victoria residents can catch a ride in one of these new Tesla cabs to get to wherever they need to be.

And you won’t need to a pay a premium either. The company, Current Taxi, will have rates comparable to that of regular cab companies.

“Everyone sees the Teslas and they get excited and say, ‘You know it’s a high-end service,'” company CEO Dale Conway told CTV News. “There’s a perception out there that we charge much more than regular taxis which is not true and never will be. We charge the exact same rates as the competition.”

The company began two years ago in Kelowna and has been successful there.

“We started getting interest from Victoria just weeks into operation in Kelowna,” said Conway. “Mayor Lisa Helps has been helping and has been instrumental in us getting approved here in Victoria as well.”

Services in Victoria starts Sunday, December 1.

Similarly, an all-Tesla ride-hailing company, InOrbis, is also on its way to BC. Recently, Tesla also revealed their new Cybertruck, which truly surprised people with how, let’s say, “unique” it looked.
