It may be a common drive for locals, but the Sea to Sky Highway Drive is truly spectacular. As such, it was recently included on a list of the top world’s top 50 once-in-a-lifetime journeys.
The comprehensive 2018 list was compiled by the Flight Network and 500+ of the world’s top travel journalists, agencies, bloggers, and editors. As such, it states that it is backed by “the ultimate insiders of international travel.”
The famous drive to Whistler took the 46th spot on the list; however, it wasn’t the only BC drive on the list. While they do travel into Alberta, a drive through the rockies from Vancouver to Banff placed 29th.
While these drives are indeed beautiful, they didn’t steal the top spots on the list. An expedition to Antarctica, for example, placed #1. Following this, in second, is an awe-inspiring cruise through the Galapagos islands. Indeed, with multifold species, brilliant flora and fauna, and picturesque coastlines – they are truly a sight to behold.

A truly scenic drive, this epic route beguiles travellers with panoramic views of the water from its soaring mountain ranges. As such, it isn’t hard to see why the Pacific Northwest drive made the list. Indeed, the juxtaposition between sea and cascading mountains is truly breathtaking, offering a unique perspective you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.
Make sure to check out Whistler’s recently opened, Peak Suspension Bridge. This incredible structure is one of the highest of its kind in the world. Standing at an soaring 7,200 feet above sea level, it isn’t hard to believe.
