A Surrey homeowner may be in some hot water after he cut down a tree filled with peacocks.

Parm Brar, the homeowner, describes how the tree, which housed over 100 peacocks, had become a major nuisance for his family.

For over 10 years, Surry’s Sullivan neighbourhood at 150th Street and 62nd Avenue has been home to the feral birds.

Not only do the birds make lots of loud noises, but they leave droppings everywhere. In fact, their excrement covered such a large portion of the yard that his children were finding it nearly impossible to play outside.

What’s more, Brar claims he tried numerous times to get assistance from the city.

“Last year, Brar’s father slipped on peacock excrement and fell, breaking his arm and cutting his face badly enough that he required stitches,” reports the Vancouver Sun.

Owing this, many of Brar’s neighbours sympathize with him; they understand why he felt he had to take matters into his own hands.

Regardless, the City of Surrey originally handed Brar a fine of $1,000 for cutting the tree down without a permit; however, Brar and the individuals who cut down the tree could face fines of up to $10,000.
