Metrotown Skytrain Station To Receive a $35M Makeover

Calling all local artists!

Translink is seeking a artist(s) to revamp Metrotown Skytrain station as it prepares for its $35M makeover along with 6 other stations along the Expo Line. A panel of local art professionals, TransLink staff, Burnaby staff and an art consultant will choose the artist they see fit for the project, which will start later this year and carry on through until 2016(completion date for all 7 stations)

TransLink has $250,000 to cover artist payment, administration, fabrication and the installation. If interested, you are asked to submit your resume and portfolio to Translink by 2:00pm on May 14th.

The whole idea behind art at the stations is reduce graffiti. Graffiti tends to drop when there’s public art, which has been a visible problem across the 604. Cities are now useing art as a strategy to improve safety. Please visit www.translink.ca for more info.
