Despite the fact April recorded 21 rainy days out of 30, Metro Vancouver water restrictions will come into effect in mid-May.
On May 15, Stage 1 restrictions will be enforced across the region, essentially limiting how often you can water your lawn.

According to Darrell Mussatto, Chair of Metro Vancouver‘s Utilities Committee, reservoirs are currently full and the snowpack is notably at 110 per cent.
Still, Metro Vancouver wants to be prepared for the dry summer months ahead.
Water Restrictions
Stage 1 Water Restrictions primarily limit residential lawn sprinkling and limit it to the following days and times:
- Even-numbered addresses: Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings 4 am to 9 am
- Odd-numbered addresses: Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday mornings 4 am to 9 am
Non-residential lawn sprinkling dates and times:
- Even-numbered addresses: Monday and Wednesday mornings from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. PT
- Odd-numbered addresses: Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. PT
All addresses: Friday mornings from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Stage 1 water restrictions will remain in effect until October 15, 2017.
Metro Vancouver may shift into Stage 2 water restrictions if and as soon as reservoirs dip in the coming months. Among others, two highly anticipated events this summer will operate with massive amounts of water; Slide the City in North Vancouver, and the return of Splashdown Park in Delta.
