World Vegan Day Vancouver

Veggies around the globe are celebrating World Vegan Day, November 1, but when it comes to food, it’s us Vancouverites who are one of the lucky ones.

Noted as one of the most vegan-friendly cities in the world, we have so many options for plant-based dishes.

And as a vegetarian/vegan-in-training (who’s also a foodie), here are my top vegan/vegan-friendly restaurants in the city:

Located on Granville and 12th, this is my favourite spot for a Sunday brunch. It’s a little pricier than some other places, but their vegan eggs benedict is to die for.

With three locations around the city, MeeT is all about comfort food, made vegan. Try their Mac and Cheez Bowl or their Crispy Chickun Burger.

Banditas Taqueria

This Mexican restaurant is primarily vegetarian, but any order can be made vegan. With its cozy, hipster vibe, this place is great for a date night. My go-to is one of the restaurant’s three enchilada options.

The Templeton is a narrow little 50’s-style diner located downtown. You might miss it when walking past, but you should definitely keep an eye out. They also offer dishes for your meat-eating friends, but have a great selection of traditional Western dishes – made vegan.

The Wallflower

This place on Main and Broadway is another diner, but with a more modern feel to it. They serve meat dishes as well, but have a great variety of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. This is another great brunch place, but on the cheaper side.

Black Lodge

Fans of Twin Peaks probably already know this spot, as its name is inspired by it. But their food is a show-stopper altogether. Try their poutine or their (coconut) Bacon, Avocado, Lettuce Tomato sandwich. This is another vegetarian place, where almost everything can be made vegan.

4 Stones Vegetarian

This is outside of Vancouver central, but it’s worth going to. 4 Stones is a vegetarian Chinese restaurants, close to Bridgeport Station. It is so tasty.

What’s your favourite place to chow down on vegan food?
