HYUNDAI RECALL IN CANADA
The notice was released on October 2 and updated on the 10th, with the recall concerned with Hyundai vehicles across Canada, with issues that can lead to injury and fires.
The notice states that “on certain vehicles, the starter motor’s terminal cover may not have been installed properly. As a result, the positive terminal could be exposed and contact nearby components in a crash. If this happens, there could be a short circuit.”
Essentially, the chances of the vehicle lighting on fire and injuring others are increased due to the exposed terminal if the vehicle ends up in a crash.
NEXT STEPS
The affected Hyundai models include the 2024 and 2025 Santa Fe.

In order to mitigate these issues, Hyundai will be notifying owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership for inspection. In the case that it is necessary, they will reinstall the starter motor positive terminal cover.
