Health Canada has just issued a recall across the country for a pair of popular baby teethers that were sold at Dollarama. Consumers are being advised on the next steps, as well as what to do with the affected products.

Health Canada: Baby Teethers Recall

The recall concerns Disney Baby Water Teethers, model 3121188, for potential microbial contamination. The teethers in question come in two different colours— teal with Mickey Mouse graphics, and pink with Minnie Mouse graphics. The teethers both feature a hollow octagonal shape with textured segments.

According to the notice, “teether fillings must not contain any living organisms. Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that the liquid filling is contaminated with fungus Rhinocladiella similis.” This fungus is usually harmless, although it can lead to an infection in children if the teether is punctured and the liquid filling is ingested.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled product and return them to a Dollarama store for a refund. More information is available by contacting Dollarama directly, by telephone at 1-888-365-4266 (Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm EST), or on the company website.
