This week the Vancouver Web Fest announced it’s moving into a new venue for an even bigger and better event. The fifth annual international online content festival and conference will be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre (West Building) from April 19 – 21, 2018. Also new to the mix are categories for Pilots and Virtual Reality content.
Seven local series went on to being nominated for awards at VWF17. Submission categories this year include Animation, Comedy, Drama, Dramedy, Fantasy, Horror, Science Fiction, Documentary, Reality, Pilot (22min Short), Pilot (44min Long) and Virtual Reality.
The festival and conference hosts 3 complete days of workshops, panels and keynotes by industry experts, screenings of all webseries Official Selections, pitch sessions, networking opportunities, parties and a giant awards ceremony gala.

Last year, Vancouver Web Fest added a YouTuber Afternoon event to its lineup. The event included a video screening, panel discussion and networking opportunity. It featured local filmmakers and YouTubers Matthew Clarke from Convos with my 2-year-old, Jennifer Chiu aka chiutips, Matt Dennison and Jason Lucas of IFHT Films and Bradley Friesen. Lisa Schwartz came in from Los Angeles as a special guest.
This year will expand the platform with an entire online content creator day with special guest panels and keynotes from YouTube talent.
All levels of filmmakers, from emerging to established, are encouraged to submit their work Vancouver Web Fest this year. Last year submissions were received from 27 countries across the world. You can submit your webseries, pilot or VR content to Vancouver Web Fest online via FilmFreeway.
