Draw for the Future: Concord Pacific’s Vancouver Festival Has $1,000 Art Prizes and a Robo Dog

Vancouver’s iconic Dragon Boat Festival is back this weekend, and this year, it’s not just about the races. Concord Pacific is inviting young creatives to “Draw for the Future” in a brand-new youth art contest with a big prize: two $1,000 awards for future education.

Happening this weekend from June 20–22, 2025, the Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival will once again transform False Creek into a celebration of culture, community, and competition. But it’s the kids who are getting their moment in the spotlight with this contest, designed for budding artists aged 6–8 and 9–12.

Here’s What You Need to Know:

  • Theme: “Draw for the Future” – kids can submit their vision of the future through art.

  • Who Can Enter: Youth in two age categories: 6–8 and 9–12.

  • The Prize: Two winners will each receive $1,000 toward their future education.

  • Cost to Enter: Free.

All submissions will be showcased at the Concord Pacific Presentation Centre near the False Creek Seawall and Carrall Street — right in the heart of the festival grounds.

Meet Concord’s RoboPaws

Beyond the contest, Concord is also unveiling its newest team member: RoboPaws. This futuristic four-legged intern (yes, you read that right) will be on site to greet guests and make appearances at the Concord Booth. Stop by to learn about Concord’s latest projects, check out interactive displays, and pick up some festival swag.

Why It Matters

With prizes that invest in kids’ futures and a strong push toward youth creativity, the art contest is just one way Concord is building community beyond real estate. It’s a smart mix of culture, innovation, and accessibility — all happening in one of the most scenic parts of Vancouver.
