The Coquitlam Crunch is the perfect trail for those not quite ready to face the notorious Grouse Grind. Often compared, this local treat offers up a quick trek ideal when pushed for time.
Roundtrip, hikers are looking at 1.5 hours plus with transit ease it doesn’t have to be a whole day out adventure.

At the starting point rests a community garden, inviting visitors to look round the many vegetable patches. Children also have an opportunity to take part in a take-a-book leave-a-book campaign by the Scot Creek Little library.
The focus on community appreciation is prevalent throughout with informative sign posts peppered along the trail. Walkers will be educated on the local wildlife, along with inspirational tips on the benefits of exercise and being outdoors.
With an elevation of 280 meters, the Crunch has a quick incline to get the blood pumping. As this is the most enduring part, beginners can hike with ease as stairs are positioned along this section. Passing the sports field they are soon replaced with gravel pathing, hikers can catch their breath as the rise becomes more gradual and far less intense.
Trekkers would be utilizing this trail predominately for the health benefits. In other words, the Crunch isn’t particularly scenic. Following hydro lines and large electrical towers with a few dubious warning signs, there isn’t too much that will leave you in awe.
Be that as it may, the views still expose the urban beauty of the Tri-City area. Extending 2.2 km towards Eagle Mountain and Buntzen Lake, the trail crosses through Bramble Park and runs perpendicular to Scott Creek Ravine.
