Cineplex recently launched a fancy new VIP theatre with a bar and reclining chairs in South Vancouver, but even better experience could be in store for local movie lovers.
Cineplex has revealed it will kick things up a notch by introducing immersive 4DX technology to an auditorium in their Yonge-Dundas location in Toronto.
The state-of-the-art cinematic technology will feature specially-designed motion chairs and environmental effects including wind, mist, bubbles, snow and scent working in synchronization with the action on the screen.
The effects will be a new first for Canada thanks to the company’s recent partnership with South Korea based CJ 4DPLEX.
Cineplex did not mention if metro Vancouver would also receive a 4D auditorium, but they did hint at it in a statement.
“We’re excited to add this innovation to our growing list of premium movie experiences as we lead the country in offering new entertainment choices.”
Being a bigger city with a larger population, Toronto is often the testing ground for most national companies, and if the product is successful, it’s very typical for the roll-out to follow in Vancouver. We’re keeping our fingers crossed the Nutella cafe expands to the 604 next.
