Canada 150 is the perfect time to reflect on not only our nation’s beauty but also on the people who are from here. Everyone knows that Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Gosling are proud Canadians, but there are some actors most people wouldn’t know are Canadian.

Dwayne Johnson, better know as “The Rock,” is a lot of things—actor, producer and professional wrestler. But did you know he’s also part Canadian?

The Rock holds both American and Canadian citizenships.

He became a partial Canadian citizen in 2009 in honour of his Canadian heritage. His father hails from Nova Scotia.

Another fun fact about The Rock is that he played for the Calgary Stampeders back in 1995, but was cut after only two months.

The Rock’s new action movie Skyscraper will be filming in both China and Vancouver. Filming for the movie in Vancouver is expected to begin August 14th.

His 2010 film The Tooth Fairy was also filmed in Vancouver.
