BC’s First Aritaum Opens In Richmond’s Aberdeen Centre

Korean skin care is a beauty trend that’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

BC’s first Aritaum store opened in Aberdeen Centre this past weekend, and the timing could not be better with North Americans riding the kbeauty wave.

The storefront resembles the inside of Sephora with its fashionable open space design, where niche brands, each with its own distinct philosophy, are displayed in its separate sections.

Products from Amorepacific or Laneige have been available in-store at select department stores such as Nordstrom or at local beauty retailers in Crystal Mall. However, this is the first Aritaum store in BC to provide a deep-dive experience into products that before would have been secured online or through a friend taking a trip overseas.

Aritaum offers the featured skincare brands: Iope, Laneige, Mamonde, Hanyul and Sulwhasoo. Sulwhasoo is only sold in the North American stores. Taking care of skin from an early age is part of Korean culture, and it is something that they are famous for, besides their alcohol. Aritaum is a division of AmorePacific, the #1 skincare and cosmetics company in south Korea. An Aritaum trainer said that in South Korea, “a woman’s beauty bag is made up of 40% AmorePacific products.”

Aritaum has invented innovative products from the cushion foundation to the two-tone lipstick, winning awards from Global Beauty Awards to Ebony Magazine. Online shopping doesn’t exist  for Aritaum customers in Canada just yet. The President and CEO of AmorePacific US, Bradley Horowitz, commented that plans for launching online shopping were most likely happening in 2017.
