BC Ferries Bans

BC Ferries is looking to make some major changes to the way they operate in the New Year.

A potential ban on smoking on the ferry is among the changes BC Ferries is hoping to make, as they’re looking towards smoke-free vessels in the future. Currently smoking is allowed at designated areas of the ferry.

Commuters hoping to catch some z’s on the ride will be out of luck as they’re considering closing access to closed car decks while the ferry is moving.

The change comes from complying with Transport Canada regulations stating access to vehicle decks during sailings can be a safety concern.

While more information has yet to be released, the ban will likely only affect C-class vessels, which include the vessels on the Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay routes.
