Remember in high school when you were forced to write essays and thought you were never going to need this skill?

Well, if you want to buy a luxury Alberta home for $25, you’re going to need those skills now.

Alla Wagner, residing in Southern Alberta, is selling her 5,000-square-foot, $1.7 million property in Millarville.

Due to health issues, Wagner listed the home for sale but hasn’t had any luck in finding a buyer. As a result, she’s taking a new route to sell the home: an essay contest.

With Vancouver being as unaffordable as it is, maybe a move wouldn’t be so bad.

According to Statistics Canada, nearly 21,000 British Columbians made the move to Alberta in 2018 alone.

Built in 2011 the two-storey Georgian country-style home located by a pond, features a panoramic mountain view.

In order to enter the writing contest there is a $25 fee and the essay topic is on why you would make the best homeowner.

Word count is limited to one page and 350 words.

However, as per contest rules, Wagner says if a offer she likes is made on the home before the end of January, the contest will be cancelled and all the entry money will be returned.

But, if that doesn’t happen, the contest will go ahead.

A home for $25 is enough to make us wish we had paid more attention in English class.
