Friday, February 16

Lanterns | Lanterns In The Garden

Vancouver’s Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is hosting Lanterns in the Garden for three weekends beginning this Friday.

Guests will go back in time to enjoy an authentic and traditional Yuanxiao festival. It marks the end of the New Year celebrations and also the first full moon day in the Lunar Calendar, which symbolizes the coming spring. The festival started since more than 2000 years ago and had become a festival with significance.

Art | Threshold Exhibition

Eight individual artists explore paint, sculpture, installation, photography, and video. See it at Icebox Gallery from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Skating | Robson Square Ice Rink

The Robson Square Ice Rink is open this weekend and will host free skates daily until Wednesday, February 28th, 2018. Skating is free for all ages. Those who own their own skates are welcome to use them. Skate rentals are $4, and rentals end 30 minutes before closing time. Furthermore, helmets are mandatory for children 12 and under. Robson Square Ice Rink will offer rentals and accept cash only.

Exhibition | The Fabric of Our Land

The Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at UBC with the Musqueam Indian Band present the remarkable new exhibition The Fabric of Our Land: Salish Weaving. It’s on display from Sunday, November 19th – Sunday, April 15th, 2018. Curated by Susan Rowley in collaboration with Salish weavers, this exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the past 200 years of Salish wool weaving.

Concert | Dua Lipa

English pop singer Dua Lipa takes to the stage at the Vogue Theatre. Tickets are $29.50.

Exhibition | City on Edge

The Museum of Vancouver (MOV) explores the history of our city’s street protests with City on Edge: A Century of Vancouver Activism. It’s a major, new photo-based exhibition on display until Sunday, February 18th, 2018.

Comedy | Legally Blonde

Riding | Grouse Mountain 24 Hours of Winter Festival

Grouse Mountain is hosting their annual 24 Hours of Winter Festival this weekend on Saturday, February 17th, 2018. Until Sunday night, attendees will be able to celebrate the weekend on the slopes and dance away under the starry skies as DJs keep the party going.

Celebration | Wesbrook Village Lunar New Year

The village will be bustling with festivities this weekend from 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.! Lions will leap and roar throughout the village from shop to shop, starting in Norman MacKenzie Square, and you can leave with a lucky red envelope of your own too.

Crafts | Lunar New Year at the Market

Lonsdale Quay Market is excited to celebrate Lunar New Year! On Saturday, February 17th, they will welcome a traditional Chinese Fan Dancing performance and workshop from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. From 12:00 p.m. – 3pm, they’ll be holding traditional lunar new year’s crafts for all ages.

The 45 annual Vancouver Chinese New Year Parade returns to Chinatown on Sunday, February 18th, 2018. This signature event of Vancouver’s Chinatown will feature lion dances, cultural dance troupes, marching bands, martial arts performances and much more.

Fundraiser | Climb The Wall

The 17th annual Climb the Wall: Stairclimb for Clean Air takes place this weekend on Sunday, February 18th, 2018. It’s a perfect opportunity to bring your friends together and have a kick start to your morning while fundraising for a great cause.

Fair | Year of the Dog Temple Fair
