A tank, UFO and exploding cop car! It’s been an action-packed week for the film and television industry in Hollywood North!
Downtown New Westminster turned into a warzone setting as a tank (actually an armoured personnel carrier) and foot soldiers rolled on Columbia Street around the waterfront parkade. The shoot was for the highly-anticipated Predator film which has been filming in Metro Vancouver for a few months and wraps up this May.

The fourth installment of the franchise is directed by Shane Black and stars Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Boyd Holbrook and local breakout actor Jacob Tremblay. The 10-year-old actor, who was raised in Langley, also filmed locally last summer alongside Pretty Woman Julia Roberts in Wonder. Tremblay received a Best Actor award at the Canadian Screen Awards last year for his role in the Canada-Ireland co-production Room.
Nearby at the picturesque Westminster Park Pier, a crashed UFO set for the same film was quite the waterfront sight-to-see.
Not to be outdone by New Westminster this week, Vancouver got in on the action with a rooftop fight, alleyway scrum and exploding cop car. These action-packed shoots are for the television series Supergirl which moved from CBS to The CW for its second season – and also moved production to Vancouver. It was renewed for a third season earlier this year.
