Ever been to Vancouver’s Empire Landmark Hotel?
Atop the vintage 43-year-old building sits Cloud 9: a restaurant that slowly revolves while guests enjoy their meals.
If you have yet to experience this unique dining atmosphere, you may want to reserve a table before they disappear.
Cloud 9 along with the 42-storey hotel could be demolished and replaced by – you guessed it – condos.
A preliminary plan filed with the city states that developers want to turn the building into nothing but dust to make way for two separate condominium buildings: a 28-storey tower and a 30-storey tower.
According to CBC, a city spokesperson says the developer will be providing more information and confirmation for the project’s application page, which is expected to be released today and will go before the permit board on December 12th.
Being the tallest hotel in Vancouver (without condos and offices), demolition of the Empire Landmark will be the end of a revolutionary era.
Be sure to get your revolving dinner date in at Cloud 9 before it’s too late!
