Vancouver born Carey Price has been named the recipient of the 2015 Lou Marsh Trophy, recognizing Canada’s top athlete.

Price, who currently plays for the Montreal Canadiens is coming off an amazing 2014-15 season, setting multiple career highs including save percentage (.933), goals-against average (1.96), and wins (44). Price’s solid year also led to him securing the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s top goalie, and the Hart Trophy as the league’s MVP.

Carey Price is the first NHL goaltender ever to secure the Lou Marsh Trophy, and the first Canadiens’ player to win the award since 1977.

The Lou Marsh award recipient is selected by a panel of sports journalists from across Canada, and is named after the former Toronto Star sports editor. Price adds to the list of 13 hockey players who have won the award since 1936.

Price was born in Vancouver in 1987, and moved to Anahim Lake in northern British Columbia at the age of 3. He was led to play hockey by his father, and spent the majority of his youth playing in Williams Lake, B.C.
