Once again the Canucks were able to score first, but failed to secure the win against the Dallas stars falling 4-2 at home Thursday night.
The Canucks (9-10-8) for their part were only able to get fifteen shots on net, while the Dallas Stars were able to get thirty-two shots on Ryan Miller who finished the night with thirty saves.
The Canucks were led offensively by Henrik Sedin who registered two assists on the night.
He registered an assist on the first goal of the night when Alexander Edler scored fifty-six seconds into the game.
The Stars would bounce back from that early goal scoring at the 11:09 mark as Valeri Nichushkin potted his third goal of the year past Ryan Miller.
The Russian forward set up Tyler Seguin’s go-ahead goal 33 seconds into the second period with another beautiful play after collecting a loose puck at the side of the Canucks goal. It marks Seguin’s fourteenth goal of the year.
Leading 2-1 heading into the third period the Stars failed to protect that lead early as Jannik Hansen tied it 2-2 at 5:31 after a bad pass by Alex Goligoski coming out of his own end.
On prior night, the Stars gave up a third period lead to the Calgary Flames losing 4-3 but on this night they were able to secure the game late.
Patrick Sharp scored the game-winning goal with 5:59 left in the third after receiving a nice stretch pass from defenseman Alex Goligoski.
To seal the deal Jason Speeza would go on to score an unassisted empty net goal with 27 seconds remaining in regulation.
On the night, the Canucks came out with energy and played really well early on but seemed to fizzle out late in the game, which resulted in them being outshot 18-6 in the second period.
