Something new could soon overlook Vancouver.
A recent application to the City of Vancouver is proposing to transform 3410 Kingsway into a mixed-use development that would fill the block with five towers, over 1,000 residences, and a number of public spaces and services, including an outdoor lounge and lookout bar.

New Towers in Vancouver
The proposal comes from Crombie REIT and Wesgroup, who seek to “strengthen… and revitalize… the Kingsway corridor by transforming an underutilized parking lot into a complete, connected community.” It plans to introduce new housing spaces, retail services, and a “renewed” grocery store.
Altogether, there are five towers part of the proposal, which will mainly offer residential space. As for the numbers, there are 1,082 units (35% are family units), 26,000-sq.-ft. of indoor amenity, 80,000-sq.-ft. of retail, and 1,078 below grade vehicular parking/2,109 bike parking spots.
What’s in the Towers?
Aside from residences, the proposal also shows that the towers intend to have outdoor dining, lounge, lookout, game, and fitness spaces.
Additionally, kids play areas featuring shaded structures and pip rubber surfacing can be found on some towers.

The towers vary from 19 to 29 stories, with the tallest one reaching 100 metres. “The development consists of a series of urban podiums accommodating retail and service spaces along Kingsway and Tyne Street, with townhouses addressing the quieter residential streets. Residential towers rise above the podiums, providing a mix of housing options within a connected, mixed-use community.”
The City of Vancouver is currently accepting comments on the application. If you have any thoughts after reviewing the proposal, you are invited to leave them here. If the proposal is approved, the development will take place over four phases.
