It was 20 years ago today when the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) rolled into General Motors Place in Vancouver for the live pay-per-view event In Your House 9: International Incident.
A lot has changed since then, WWF is now World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and General Motors Place is now Roger’s Arena.
Results:
- John Bradshaw defeated Savio Vega
- The Bodydonnas (Skip & Zip) defeated The Smoking Gunns (Billy Gunn & Bart Gunn)
- Mankind defated Henry O. Godwinn
- Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated Marc Mero (w/ Sable)
- The Undertaker defeated Goldust (by DQ)
- Camp Cornette (Vader, Owen Hart & The British Bulldog w/ Jim Cornette) defeated The People’s Posse (Shawn Michaels, Sycho Sid & Ahmed Johnson w/ Jose Lothario)
The sports and entertainment event took place on July 21, 1996 as the professional wrestling production company’s main lead-up event to the summertime showcase and blockbuster SummerSlam. Mankind interfered in the Undertaker’s match, costing him a victory due to disqualification. At SummerSlam (1996) Mankind went on to beat the Undertaker in a Boiler Room Brawl. That’s also where Shawn Michaels successfully defended the Championship against Vader.
Fun facts:
- 28 ‘In Your House’ style events were held between 1995 and 1999
- Vancouver also hosted Rock Bottom: In Your House on December 13, 1998
- Winnipeg and Calgary are the only two other Canadian cities to host an In Your House event
In Your House 9 was set to feature The Ultimate Warrior in tag team action with Shawn Michaels and Ahmed Johnson versus another trio. Unfortunately the Warrior left the company weeks before over a booking disagreement.
