There are a number of places to enjoy a winter getaway from Vancouver; however, this picturesque town south of the border is pure magic.
Leavenworth is a mountain-walled, Bavarian town that looks like it belongs in Switzerland more than the USA. Indeed, the picturesque little village is a favourite place to celebrate Maifest, Oktoberfest and Christmas. What’s more, this incredible destination is only a 4 hour drive from downtown Vancouver in Washington State.

Winter Getaway in Leavenworth
Not only is the town completely adorable, but it is also in extremely close proximity to an adorable reindeer farm! The Leavenworth Reindeer Farm is the perfect place to bring the whole family and enjoy the holidays while meeting some adorable little deer. While the reindeers are the main attraction, adults and children are offered the opportunity to feed the free-range chickens, take a photo on Santa’s Sleigh or climb on the fully restored vintage tractor.
Leavenworth holds a number of incredible attractions you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. For example, they have a Nutcracker Museum that displays thousands of nutcrackers, some dating back centuries.
In addition, the alpine-style buildings along Front Street are complete with restaurants serving German beer and food. Indeed, strolling through these charming walkways makes you feel like you are wandering through a quaint European village.
Located in the Cascade mountains, this town is also in close proximity to some phenomenal ski areas and wineries.
