Sometimes the best getaway doesn’t require a passport, a flight, or even leaving the city.
Tucked between Stanley Park, Coal Harbour, and downtown Vancouver, The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver has long been one of the city’s most recognizable hotels. Yet spending a night here feels surprisingly different from simply visiting the neighbourhood.

Maybe it’s the marina views. Maybe it’s waking up steps from the Seawall. Or maybe it’s the simple luxury of slowing down in a city that’s always moving.
If we had 24 hours to spend at The Westin Bayshore, here’s exactly how we’d do it.
Check In and Leave the City Behind
There’s something satisfying about dropping your bags in a hotel room, even when home is only a short drive away.
Once you’ve checked in, settled into your room, and taken in the view, the pace of the day begins to shift.
Boats drift across the harbour, the North Shore mountains fill the horizon, and the rhythm of the city suddenly feels a little farther away. For the next 24 hours, there’s nowhere you need to be and nothing you need to do except enjoy Vancouver from a different perspective.
Golden Hour Dinner at H Tasting Lounge

For dinner, we’d head downstairs to H Tasting Lounge, where the setting is just as much a part of the experience as the menu.
One of the best parts of staying at The Westin Bayshore is that the evening can unfold at its own pace. As the afternoon light softens and the marina catches the evening glow, settle in with a cocktail, share a few plates, and enjoy a leisurely dinner by the water.
Take your time. Stay awhile. With some of Vancouver’s best waterfront views just beyond the table, there’s really no reason to rush.
One Last Walk Before Bed
Before calling it a night, we’d head out for one more walk along the waterfront. After dark, the Seawall takes on a different kind of calm. City lights shimmer across the water, the crowds begin to thin, and the marina settles into the evening, with the occasional floatplane landing nearby.
It’s quiet, unhurried, and a fitting way to end the day. A reminder that sometimes the best way to experience Vancouver is simply to slow down and take it all in.
Wake Up to Vancouver

There’s no better way to start the morning than with a coffee and a view. Open the curtains, take a few minutes to enjoy the harbour waking up, and resist the urge to immediately check your phone.
This is one of those mornings meant to be enjoyed slowly.
Explore Stanley Park
With checkout still hours away, there’s plenty of time to explore. One of the best parts of staying at The Westin Bayshore is having Stanley Park and the Seawall right outside your door.
Head out on foot or take advantage of the hotel’s complimentary BikeWESTIN bikes and explore at your own pace. Stop by Lost Lagoon, follow the waterfront, or pause to watch floatplanes take off over the harbour.
Even if you’ve experienced this part of Vancouver dozens of times before, seeing it through the lens of a guest is a reminder of just how special it really is.
One More Swim Before Checkout
Back at the hotel, there’s still time for one final moment of relaxation.
Take a swim. Spend a few minutes in the cedar barrel sauna. Read another chapter of your book.
One of the best parts of a stay like this is realizing you don’t always have to fill every minute with activity. Sometimes the luxury is simply having nowhere else to be.
Lunch Before Heading Home
After checking out, there’s no need to rush back to reality. Head back to H Tasting Lounge for one last meal and make the most of the waterfront setting before the weekend comes to an end.
Order lunch, settle in, and linger over the view just a little longer. After all, part of the appeal of a staycation is not having to hurry anywhere.
A Reminder of Why We love Vancouver
The best hotels do more than give you a place to stay. They offer a different way to experience a destination, and that’s part of what makes The Westin Bayshore so special.
In just 24 hours, you can watch the sun set over the water, linger over cocktails by the marina, wander the Seawall, explore Stanley Park, and rediscover the parts of the city that are easy to overlook in the rhythm of everyday life.
You haven’t gone far, but it still feels like an escape. Sometimes, seeing your own city from a different perspective is all it takes.
