Every Thursday, we share a throwback photo of Vancouver that always highlights how much, and how fast the city has changed into what it is today.
This week, we bring you a beautiful photo of Vancouver from 1980 overlooking downtown Vancouver, the Burrard Inlet and Stanley Park in the back. The highlight of this picture is right in the center – there’s no Canada Place! In 1980, the strip which is now Canada Place was apart of the Canadian Pacific Railway’s Pier B-C.
Construction for Canada Place Vancouver began March 9th, in 1983. The 400 million dollar project was completed three years later on May 2nd, 1986.
