The Catfe dream was led by local cat fanatic Michelle Furbacher, who stumbled across a video of a Cat Cafe in a different city, and immediately fell in love with the idea. Within months she started a crowding funding campaign and gained instant supporters.
Just over a year later, Furbacher took to her blog to make the big announcement.
“It’s official. The City of Vancouver has approved our permit application, and we will be starting construction and renovations in the next couple of weeks!”
Furbacher plans to work with the Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association will supply the Catfe with adoptable cats.
The Catfe will be located in the International Village Mall at 88 West Pender Street ( in the southwest corner on the second floor) and offer cats two sections. One side will be dedicated to food and beverages, and the other side will be a lounge for cats and patrons.
The Vancouver Catfe is slated to open in October 2015.
