October has been a busy month for Transport Canada as they’ve been issuing many recalls.
A number of popular vehicle brands are being recalled due to a slew of problems. Whether that’s for increased crash risks, braking, steering, or batteries, these cars have all proven to be potentially dangerous to both owners and other motorists on the road.
TRANSPORT CANDA RECALLS
Hyundai Santa Fe
One of the more recent recalls includes Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles. Over 13,000 of these SUVs pose a potential fire risk as “on certain vehicles, the starter motor’s terminal cover may not have been installed properly. As a result, the positive terminal could be exposed and contact nearby components in a crash. If this happens, there could be a short circuit.”

The affected models include the 2024 and 2025 Santa Fe models.
Ford Bronco and Escape
Another recent recall concerns Ford Broncos and Escapes, which are having issues with their power brake assist. “Certain vehicles may not meet the minimum stopping requirements of Canadian regulations,” stated Transport Canada. “In particular, the vehicle may have an extended stopping distance if there is a loss of power brake assist.”

The recall affects 9,344 Ford vehicles, specifically the Ford Bronco 2021, and Ford Escape 2020 and 2021.
Toyota Sequoia and Tundra
32,733 Toyota Sequoia and Tundra vehicles are being recalled due to rearview camera issues. These problems can cause the rearview camera to display incorrectly or not at all while reversing. With reduced visibility, crash risks can be increased as drivers are being shown incorrect views.
This affects Toyota Sequoia models from 2023, 2024, and 2025. It also affects Toyota Tundra models from 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles
A combined total of 8,106 vehicles are being impacted by a number of Fiat Chrysler Automobile recalls. This includes Dodge, Ram, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo models.
- Dodge Dart (2013 – 2016): gear shifting problems
- Ram Promaster (2024, 2025): risk of sudden loss of power to wheels
- Fiat 500e (2024, 2025): headlamp adjustment issues
- Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio (2020 – 2025): rearview camera issues
Nissan NV200 and Leaf
Two Nissan models have recently been recalled. While the NV200 van is having engine stalling risks, the Leaf models can potentially have its battery overheat while in quick charge mode.
16,409 Nissan vehicles are affected by the recall, including the NV200 2013 to 2021 models, and Leaf 2021 and 2022 models.
Chevrolet City Express
2,135 Chevrolet City Express vehicles are being recalled because of a fuel tank temperature sensor harness issue. This can lead to the engine losing power while driving. The affected years are from 2015 to 2018.
Mercedes-Benz EQB
837 Mercedes-Benz EQB vehicles are having issues with overheating batteries, causing a fire risk. These models include those from 2015 to 2018, with owners being advised to set their maximum charge to 80% until repairs can be completed.
Tesla Model Y
Although on the smaller side, 3 Tesla Model Y SUVs are being recalled because of faulty reverse lamp wiring. These models are all from 2026 and can result in people not being able to recognize when the vehicles are in reverse.
