British actor Alfred Thomas “Freddie” Highmore made a splash on the big screen over a decade ago in movies like Finding Neverland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Then he entered our homes on the small screen as the infamous psychotic character Norman Bates in A&E’s drama Bates Motel.

The popular psychological horror-thriller filmed in Vancouver from 2013 to 2015 and gave viewers a total re-imagining of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1960 film Psycho. Filming primarily took place in studio and in Aldergrove where a replica of the original Bates Motel set from the Psycho film and exterior of the Bates manor stood. They were demolished earlier this year after the series wrapped up.

Highmore shot the pilot for ABC’s The Good Doctor earlier this spring. The show is based on a 2013 Korean drama series and is a concoction made by the creator of House and Lost and Hawaii 5-0 star Daniel Dae Kim. It was picked up for order by ABC in May and is set to air September 25, 2017.

Daniel Dae Kim serves as co-creator of The Good Doctor alongside London, Ontario’s David Shore who also developed House starring Hugh Laurie. Kim co-starred with Vancouver’s Grace Park in CBS’s reboot of Hawaii 5-0 for seasons 1 to 7 before. They both departed from the series this year.

The medical-drama stars Highmore as a young pediatric surgeon who happens to suffer from autism and savant syndrome. The show also stars Antonia Thomas, Nicholas Gonzalez, Chuku Modu, Beau Garrett, Hill Harper, Richard Schiff and Tamlyn Tomita. Filming for season 1 began in Vancouver on July 26 and is scheduled to wrap up by December 15th.
