TEDxVancouver 2012 Speakers List

The fourth annual TEDxVancouver event is set to take place on Sunday, October 21 at the Orpheum Theatre. This year’s event is expected to be the biggest and best event that has taken place so far, and looks to feature a theme of “Confluence” where nature, humans and technology will be looked at as a whole, to see how they exactly intertwined to what they are today.

TED’s mission is to share “ideas worth spreading”, where information is shared among communities, organizations and individuals so that they can stimulate their mind and dialogue thanks to the TED-like experiences shared.

Along with a great theme, come great guest speakers at TED this year. Speakers are hand picked for their great minds and inspired intellect. Their goal this year, is to give the speech of their life in a mere 18 minutes or less!

The final list of speakers will feature:

Robin Esrock – “Learn to Travel: Travel to Learn”
Robin Esrock’s success as a global adventurer, travel writer, TV producer and international TV personality was no accident, although it did start with one.

Mark Betteridge – “Short Term Thinking: A Risk to Our Legacy”
Mark Betteridge is interested in leadership. He is a Director of the British Columbia Technology Industry Association, and a founding Director and Board Chair for Covenant House Vancouver.  He was also the first President of the UBC Real Estate Corporation, and a former Director of the Vancouver Aquarium.

Natalie DeFreitas – “Rethinking the Impact of Traditional Justice”
Natalie DeFreitas believes there is a better way to “do” justice. At the age of 18, she volunteered with a literacy organization in Canadian federal prisons, and quickly became convinced of the merits of an emerging trend toward restorative justice practices.

Alongside Esrock, Betteridge, and DeFreitas and completing the speaker list for TEDxVancouver 2012 are the following inspiring individuals:

Natacha Beim
Mark Brand
John Bromley
Dr. Jean Carruthers
Dr. John Izzo
Chen Lizra
