PNE Is Now Accepting Applications For 2014/2015 Youth Council

The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) is looking for twelve outstanding high school students for its 2014/2015 PNE Youth Council. Now in its fifth year, the exciting leadership opportunity gives youth a chance to learn about the inner workings of a successful business while developing a voice in the community.

“The Youth Council continues to bring together an enthusiastic and dedicated group of high school students who are eager to make a difference in their community,” says PNE president and CEO Mike McDaniel. “The program is a great opportunity for students to develop strong leadership skills and gives the PNE staff the opportunity to connect with teenagers on youth related issues and programming. It is our hope that the Youth Council will continue to foster a strong relationship between young people and the PNE for generations to come.”

Motivated senior high school students (grades 10 to 12, as of September 2014) who are interested in developing valuable leadership skills, meeting with business leaders from the PNE and wider community, and making a positive change in their community, are encouraged to submit an application. Successful applicants will be those with some previous volunteer experience, who enjoy working with others, are highly creative, and demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

The PNE Youth Council meets on a monthly basis, with participants committing to a one-year term. The deadline for applications is Friday, May 2, 2014. Interviews will be conducted in early June for shortlisted applicants. For applications and more information visit www.pne.ca/youth.
