21 Things To See And Do At The PNE This Summer

The PNE just released their entertainment and attraction lineup for 2018 and it looks promising.

This year, the PNE attraction highlights will include Knights of Valour, Action Sports All-Stars with X Games Athletes, and an exhibit exploring the intersection between pop culture and technology.


New PNE Entertainment and Attractions

Action Sports World Tour

Cheer on the world’s best professional skateboarders and BMX riders as they perform incredible aerial stunts on a state-of-the-art half-pipe. If you stick around afterwards, you can meet the athletes for photos and autographs!

Knights Of Valour

Imagine A Knight’s Tale in real life. Knights Of Valour is a thrilling show of horsemanship, chivalry, and bravery. There will be full contact jousting like you’ve never seen before!

The POPnology exhibit explores some of the greatest works of popular culture that inspired technology, innovation, and imagination in history. The PNE attraction exhibit also features various interactive elements, including the world’s fist 3D printed car and hands on robotics.

The Lost World Of Dragons

The Lost World Of Dragons celebrates the mythical, wondrous creatures that have captured the hearts of cultures around the world. This PNE attraction will showcase dragon stories will be told from across the globe, from Norway all the way to ancient China.

Street Of Dreams

Street Of Dreams is a classic and custom car show, unlike you’ve ever experienced before. Take a stroll down Vintage Lane, and enamour yourself with viewing timeless classics, hot rods, and more.

ARCY LIVE! – Live Event Mural

Known for his paint splashed style of large scale street art, Ryan ‘Arcy’ Christenson will be creating live mural art, celebrating the PNE’s iconic moments in honour of its 50th anniversary.


Festival Park Nights

All sets will be from 7PM – 8PM, and 8:30PM to 9:30PM.

Dr. Strangelove

Dr. Strangelove is a highly entertaining, high energy and versatile dance band with five talented lead vocalists who can cover everything from Frank Sinatra to Lady Gaga to ACDC.

They take requests all night long, keeping the dance floor packed and guests engaged… all with a sense of humour! Dr. Strangelove will be appearing August 18th, 19th, 21st, and 22nd.

Side One

Side One is a dynamic and high energy, award-winning dance band. Known for covering a wide array of styles and genres seamlessly, you can expect to hear all your favourites, classic and current- bring your dancing shoes!

Side One will be appearing August 23rd, 24th, and 25th.

Vancouver’s Legendary R&B Allstars 

Vancouver-based R&B Allstars, after a 10 year recuperation from groove fatigue, reformed in mid 2013. The original band, in their signature white tuxedos, first opened for Long John Baldry at Ohara’s.

Vancouver’s Legendary R&B Allstars will be appearing August 26th, 28th, 29th, 30th.

Groove & Tonic

Vancouver party band Groove & Tonic deliver a high energy performance of R&B, Disco, Funk, Rock and Pop with a repertoire of both old school and contemporary. Always engaging, these musicians showcase their top-notch musicality and infallible grooves every time they perform. This is Vancouver’s hottest party band, and they’ll get you up and dancing!

Groove & Tonic will be appearing August 31st and September 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

NOVA: The Emergence Of Light

This nightly finale is a one-of-a-kind, futuristic light show you won’t want to miss. Immersed in a giant dome, this PNE attraction show is a breathtaking performance that combines cutting-edge visual effects with incredible live performers and magical feats. This visual experience will take your breath away – you have to see it to believe it!

NOVA will be appearing nightly from 10:15PM to 10:30PM.

Celebration Plaza

The Checkerboard Guy

The Checkerboard Guy has been racking up awards with his exceptional laughter-inducing, audience-engaging show. The unconventional world of imagination, spun by this mischievous instigator is one part inspired insanity, one part interactive game, one part skilful demonstration, and one hundred percent infectious fun.

The Checkerboard Guy will be on daily from 2:30PM to 3PM, 4:30PM to 5PM, and 7:30PM to 8PM.

Magic Brian

Magic Brian is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning performer that will have you laughing hysterically one moment and gasping in awe the next. It’s a high-energy, interactive comedy-magic sideshow with plenty of surprises – including a record-breaking escape from a real straitjacket and 40 feet of chain.

Magic Brian is on daily from 1:30PM to 2PM, 3:30 to 4PM, and 6PM to 6:30PM.

The President’s Choice SuperDogs Presents Happy Barkday

The President’s Choice SuperDogs is celebrating its 40th birthday with an extraordinary PNE attraction show, featuring all the fun and excitement audiences have come to expect from four decades of SuperDogs spectacles!

You’ll laugh, you’ll cheer, and you’ll fall in love with these amazing dogs as they unleash their most memorable show ever! Fast paced, interactive, heart-warming and hilarious! Superdogs will be appearing daily at 12:30PM to 1:15PM, 2:30PM to 3:15PM, and 6PM to 6:45PM.

British Columbia’s most affordable home lottery is back. One of the Fair’s most beloved attractions, the PNE Prize Home grand prize features a gorgeous 3,025 sq. foot ‘West Coast modern’ style house that will be relocated for the lucky winner to the Okanagan, following the 2018 Fair.

 This 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath home includes a dry sauna, two outdoor living decks and a home theatre room, and comes fully furnished with the latest tech, appliances and furniture.

Prize home tickets are available as follows: two tickets for $25, six tickets for $50, and 15 tickets for $100. The 2018 Grand Prize Home Package is valued at more than $1.8 million. Tours are available daily from 11AM to 10PM.

All your favourite rides will be available this summer along with mouthwatering food to enjoy. Check out what was drool worthy last year at the PNE.

Canada Showcase

A cultural mosaic of dynamic dancers, exhilarating musical performers and other special guests! This PNE attraction celebration of Canada’s diverse cultural landscape will delight fair-goers of all ages and backgrounds.

Canada Showcase will be on from 12PM to 12:30PM, 2PM to 2:30PM, and 5PM to 5:30PM.

The Silver Starlets

The Silver Starlets are an all-female aerial acrobatic show full of glitz, glam and glitter. With a 20-foot tall, freestanding trapeze rig as a stage, they’ll twist, tumble, bend, climb and fall. These are ladies of incredible athleticism and strength. You’ll be cheering, laughing and dancing along with them!

The Silver Starlets will be on from 12:30PM to 1PM, 3PM to 3:30PM, and 5:30PM to 6PM.

Toon City Stage

Mermaid Tales

Take a trip under the ocean and into the magical world of the famous Mermettes, the ocean’s biggest pop sensation! Come swim with the jellyfish, snorkel through the kelp and join the fun in the mermaid musical celebration!

Mermaid Tales is on daily from 1PM to 1:30PM, 3PM to 3:30PM, and 5:30PM to 6PM.

Safari Adventure with Action Austin

Are you ready for a safari adventure? Join Action Austin, together with the help of his friends, on a deep safari in search of the missing pink star diamond! This PNE attraction musical stage show is perfect for the whole family!

Hours and Rates

Daily from 2PM to 2:30PM, 4PM to 4:30PM, and 6:30PM to 7PM.

The fair at the PNE will run from August 18th to September 3rd, and will be closed on August 20th and 27th. Open 11AM until late.

A fair gate pass between the ages of 14-64 is $18 ($15 online), a seniors gate pass (65+) is $9 at the gate and $7 online, a child gate pass (13 and under) is free, and a fair ride pass (patrons must be over 48″ tall) is $46.75 at the gate and $43.75 online. For more information, head here.
