VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks, who don’t play in anger until Sunday’s Game 1 of the NHL Western Conference final, didn’t skate again Wednesday — but two players were on the ice at Rogers Arena for a brief twirl in sweats.
One was seldom-used Jeff Tambellini. And the other? How about injured centre Manny Malhotra, who was wearing a full facial visor to protect his wounded left eye.
Malhotra was hurt March 16 when struck by a deflected puck. He’s had two surgeries and was long ago declared out for the season, including playoffs. Canucks associate coach Rick Bowness indicated Wednesday that nothing has changed.
“I saw Manny out there with the cage but [playing] is a long ways away from happening,” Bowness said.
Meanwhile, injured right-winger Mikael Samuelsson (lower body) was seen limping badly in the hallway at Rogers Arena. He went down in Game 5 vs. Nashville.
