If you’ve ever lined up for a honey dip or a seasonal special at Granville Island, you’ll know why Vancouverites hold Lee’s Donuts so close to their hearts. And now, donut lovers south of the Fraser are about to get their own slice of happiness.
Lee’s Donuts is officially open at Tsawwassen Mills this fall and a grand opening party is scheduled for Saturday, October 11.
A Local Icon Goes South of the Fraser
Founded in 1979, Lee’s Donuts has become a true Vancouver institution. From its humble beginnings as a family-run stall on Granville Island, it’s grown into one of the city’s most recognizable sweet spots, famous for its classic honey dip, the pink-frosted Simpsons-style donuts, and creative seasonal flavours that keep regulars coming back.
The brand’s yellow boxes spark instant nostalgia, whether they’re shared at family gatherings, office celebrations, or just as a personal pick-me-up. And now, Tsawwassen is next in line to experience that same joy.
Meet the Family Behind the New Location
Unlike many franchise stories, this one is truly rooted in family. The Tsawwassen Mills shop is being opened by cousins William Tang and Alex Mach, alongside their wives Rebecca Tran and Morgan Shupe.
All four have strong ties to the community, having grown up in the area and now raising families of their own, four kids between them, to be exact. Their combined backgrounds in business, real estate, and food and beverage bring a solid foundation, but more than that, their motivation is personal.
“We’ve been fans of Lee’s Donuts for as long as we can remember,” the team shares. “Seeing that yellow box at a family gathering always felt like a treat. Now we get to share that same joy with other families here in Tsawwassen.”
Donuts Made for the Community
Just like the Granville Island original, the new shop will be serving Lee’s signature lineup: the classic honey dip, crullers, maple glazed, and seasonal specials like pumpkin spice and gingerbread in the colder months.
But the Tsawwassen Mills location is also planning something unique. The team is developing exclusive community-inspired creations that celebrate the local area. While the flavours are still under wraps, you can expect donuts that nod to the neighbourhood and give locals another reason to stop by regularly.

Grand Opening Celebration
While the shop will quietly open its doors on October 1, the real party happens on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Guests can expect:
-
Freshly baked donuts served all day
-
Special promotions and giveaways
-
A chance to be among the first to try the new location’s community-inspired treats
With Tsawwassen Mills already a popular family shopping destination, the grand opening is set to be a busy day.

What This Means for Metro Vancouver
Lee’s Donuts has long been one of those “worth the wait” destinations in Vancouver, with lineups at Granville Island stretching out the door regularly. The Tsawwassen Mills opening is part of the brand’s wider expansion across Metro Vancouver, making it easier for families to enjoy their favourites without always making the trek into the City.
For South Delta residents and Fraser Valley travellers, it’s a welcome addition and another reason to stop in at Tsawwassen Mills for more than just shopping.
At its core, Lee’s has always been about more than donuts. It’s about the memories made while sharing them. Whether it’s grabbing a dozen for the office, surprising your kids after school, or treating yourself on a weekend outing, Lee’s donuts carry a sense of tradition and joy that’s rare to find.
With the Tsawwassen Mills opening, that tradition is growing, still freshly glazed, and still served with a smile.
