Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto is in Vancouver this summer filming the science fiction movie Needle in a Timestack. It’s based on the novel of the same name by Robert Silverberg about a marriage intercepted by a time-traveler. The screenplay is written by John Ridley (12 Years A Slave) who also directs. The cast includes Leslie Odomn Jr., Orlando Bloom, Cynthia Erivo and Alberta’s Jadyn Wong.
Filming began in Vancouver on June 18th and is expected to wrap up by July 24th.
Pinto shot another big sci-fi movie, also during summertime, in Vancouver back in 2010: Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The first installment of the rebooted franchise also starred James Franco and had additional filming locations in San Francisco and Hawaii. The next two films in the series have also filmed in and around Vancouver.
While in town, the 33-year-old Indian actress has also shared some of her stunning photo shoot with adventure photographer Cory Tran. The “traveler + adrenaline junky” is based out of LA and Austin, Texas.
