The event is held by the Vancouver Pride Society each year, being one of their key events of Pride Week.
The Davie Street Party is their most expensive production, with a predicted cost of $79,500, and security and traffic control going over an extra $37,000. In 2017, the event cost a whopping $209,183.
VPS determined that they would need “a substantial amount of additional partnered support or cost reductions to make it happen in 2018.”
The City of Vancouver and VPS will be working hard with their partners to ensure the event is back on for 2019.
