PoCoMo, a youth outreach program based in the Tri-Cities, may be forced to shut down due to a lack of funding. This non-profit organization’s mission is to reach out and help disadvantaged youth. They have special buses that drive around neighborhoods at night to pick up at-risk youth, so they have a safe place to stay for the time being.
PoCoMo also provides services for problems such as bullying, abuse, and drug addiction.
This youth program relies solely on grants, donations, and fundraising from others to provide necessary support and services to over 2000 youth’s each year. And the issue is, PoCoMo could disappear just because there isn’t enough funding. If that happens, then hundreds of people will have to struggle to find basic things like shelter, food, and clothing.
The program is definitely something every community needs, with enough funds they can continue their program and hopefully expand into other local cities in the 604.
