Shoppers at the Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby were given a scare on Monday, December 4th after a suspected gas leak was reported.
Following instruction from firefighters, shoppers and workers were evacuated from the mall at roughly 8.30 pm in the evening.

Carbon Monoxide Leak at Metrotown
Fortis BC investigated the incident and told Global News that, “the source appears to be a malfunctioning piece of equipment on the store’s roof and that the equipment will need to be fixed.”

Crews were able to clean up the area by 11 pm later that evening. In addition, no one needed medical attention as a result of the leak.
The mall opened for regular hours on Tuesday, December 5th.
