Burnaby RCMP are on the lookout for a suspect that allegedly assaulted two victims in a road rage incident. They are asking the public for assistance in identifying the suspect.
Burnaby Road Rage Incident
Officers responded to a report on August 19, 2025 regarding an alleged assault that resulted from a road rage incident that occurred on Dover Street, near Royal Oak Avenue. The victim’s vehicle had external and internal dashcam footage that recorded the reported assault.
The video reveals that the suspect stopped driving, forcing the victim to brake behind him. From the suspect’s vehicle steps out an Asian male “in his twenties, wearing a white t-shirt,” who walks up to the victim’s vehicle and punches the driver’s side window. The glass shatters.
According to Burnaby RCMP’s press release, “Though the entire interaction lasts only seconds, the suspect also returns to the victim’s vehicle, grabs a cell phone off the dashboard and throws it at the passenger. Both the passenger and the driver sustained injuries from the incident.”
The following investigation has identified the passenger of the suspect vehicle to be the registered owner. The RCMP has made numerous attempts, “including just days ago”, but the registered owner continually refuses to identify the suspect.
Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP said, “The video is hard to watch, and the violence displayed is simply inexcusable. We are confident that someone will be able to identify the suspect, and we ask that they come forward and speak to our investigators.”
If you have any information that could identify the suspect, then you are asked to please contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 2025-29201. Those that wish to remain anonymous can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
