It’s that time of the year again– where essay deadlines come flooding in, and finals are just around the corner here at UBC. Here are a couple of places that make great, conducive study spots on campus. We hope that you find this list useful, and best of luck with your exams!
Best Study Spaces in UBC
The Boulevard Coffee Roasting Co – 5970 University Blvd
The Boulevard is a great place to get a cup of coffee, sit down, and get started on an essay. Studies have shown that ambient noise enhances creativity, so the smell of coffee and the murmur in the background here is perfect when you’re trying to hit the word count limit. Bean Around The World – 6308 Thunderbird Blvd
Bean Around the World is on the other end of campus, and also feels like The Boulevard (though a little more quieter). They serve excellent coffee, but their food is a little overpriced. It’s a great place to get work done, though. (Image via myuna)
Woodward Library – 2198 Health Sciences Mall
Woodward library is a quiet library, and I like the fact that I can always find a seat in there. I get the most work done when I’m in the quiet study room in the basement, mostly because I feel motivated when people around me look productive. (Image via UBC)
Walter C. Koerner Library – 1958 Main Mall
Of course Koerner Library would find it’s way on to this list! By now, every UBC student has probably been in here once. There is always an empty seat in the basement. (Image via stephenccwu)
Asian Center – 1871 West Mall
The Asian Center is always quiet and you are always bound to find a seat somewhere. It’s also near Place Vanier and Marine Drive. There, you will find the Asian Library, which is smaller compared to the rest of the libraries. Head to the second floor of the library if you want to get some work done. What I like about it is the fact that it doesn’t give you that cramped-up library feel that you get with some. (Image via UBC)
Forest Sciences Center – 2424 Main Mall
On sunny days, this is a great building to head to because of all the natural light that comes in, and it’s also very nice and airy. The Forestry Building has a beautiful interior and the common study area is cozy, with lots of trees and wood. (image via Forest Sciences Center)
